Not so long ago I dreaded Monday mornings just like my friends, but going through the daily routine until I could hide for the weekend after 6pm on a Friday. Sometimes I couldn’t even remember the Friday evenings…But that was a long time ago! Sometimes you just have to listen to what your heart and head are telling you,and forget about what your so called friends have said or will say, maybe not to your face, when they realise what you have done. In my case I just had to bite the bullet and do it, regardless of what anyone else might think.
I had been a model employee for nearly 25 years,in various departments of production, before getting involved in sales and sales management, but it just wasn’t what I wanted anymore. I am married, have a beautiful family, and home, with two cars, but 18 months ago something just clicked
I was fed up working for others I needed to work for me. I wanted to have my own business so that I could work from home and I just knew that I had to take that first step that would be the key to making money online after playing at it for a while now. I knew I could do it.It didn’t feel like, my investments and pensions were going anywhere and the endowment mortgage wasn’t going to pay for the house after all. It felt like I was peddling uphill in neutral.
My friends were not all that positive to my career choice to work from home and I could tell they were having a chuckle to themselves inside. "Yeah, whatever".
My friends unfortunately have done a disappearing act, finding it difficult to speak to me about my new career.
Why is it that when you do something that is a bit different, other peoples perceptions about you change? Could it be that they wished that they had the nerve to take a risk or two and work from home for themselves?I don’t know.
The current global recession is putting lot of strain on all employed people, particularly the lower and middle income, and working mothers. Redundancies and layoffs have resulted in a sharp drop in family income levels.
Even those who are still employed find salary levels dropping due to the loss in company revenues. Therefore, earning a living, as well as making a little extra money, has assumed some importance now. In such a situation, a home business, offers a tempting opportunity to make ends meet in several households.

- Copy writing, blog writing
- Mystery shopping
- Online Surveys
A home business gives you the chance to spend time with your family, but is it does have disadvantages because it is impossible to not to take work home, since your work is at your home. It is very temping to just get some work done for ½ hour, before you know it you have been there for hours and the kids have been waiting for you to sit down with popcorn and a movie.
Don’t get me wrong Home Businesses are great for your family, but you have to be disciplined and set a time when you are going to work. If you need more time to work on something, make the extra time needed for work in the morning and not at night. Everyone needs to work late once in a while, but try to limit it. You chose a home business so you could spend more time with your family so spend more time with your family.
There is nothing worse than having a parent who is always right there in front of you, but is to busy at work. It is important to separate your home from your business. Try to do your work when the house is quiet so you are not interrupted by normal household activities, it is after all a home not “ the office”.
Make a schedule of what you need to get done each day, when that is done, turn the computer off and spend time with the family. Then you can feel confident that there is no need to go back and finish what you started.
